Sustainable capacity through portfolio analytics

Calibrant delivers consistently profitable results from MGA underwriting.

We are an insurance intermediary and advisory firm with an actuarial core and a broad team of insurance professionals.

Using the insight from past experience along with our knowledge of the current state of underwriting, claims and pricing, we derive a detailed projection of the near-and medium-term future. This enables us to identify opportunities for profitable growth, and negative trends quicker than traditional approaches.

We commenced operations in 2021 and during our first year signed two FTSE-100 insurers as clients.

About Us

We align interests between the MGA and insurer

Calibrant specialises in the portfolio management and oversight of delegated authority business. We partner with both carriers and MGAs with the aim of creating and maintaining long term, multi-year capacity provision.

Complementing this alignment, we use data and insight to build an in-depth understanding of a given portfolio and the direction of travel with clear expectations that ensure performance sits within the agreed contractual range.

Understanding the value of tomorrow’s business, today

Whether you are a capacity provider, (re)insurer, or MGA, knowing the expected performance of the business written today is crucial.

This is core to Calibrant. Using our proprietary software, Sybil®, we take historical underwriting data to build a view of expected performance validated against actual claim experience. From this we derive forward-looking rate adequacy.

This reconciling of underwriting with accident period data enables the continuous cycle of insight and performance management to take place, and provides a leading indication of emerging trends. Glitches are fixed before they become problems.

View from the middle
